The true nature of leadership isn’t about power or having authority over others, it’s about selflessly serving others.
A good man puts the needs of his family before his own. Courage allows a man to step beyond his fear and act for the greater good. Placing the well-being of his loved ones above his own is the greatest gift a man can give them. Courage is the 1st virtue, it serves as the foundation of all other virtues. Because without courage a man cannot be dependable nor can he become his family’s protector and a provider.
But unlike what you think, courage is more than fighting an intruder, jumping into burning buildings to save the innocents. Courage is in everyday life. It’s what allows a man to make tough decisions. To take action when others won’t. To stand up for his belief and conviction. To do what’s right in the face of opposition. A courageous man is ready to do what needs to get done when it needs to get done. To lead by example, to motivate and inspire others to do the same.
Courage enables honesty.
It gives a man the strength to face criticism, judgement and more importantly, the truth. To accept responsibility for his shortcomings, demonstrate his willingness to learn from his mistakes and grow from his experiences. In fact, the hardest truths don’t come from others but from within. They are inescapable, a constant whisper urging us to confront the aspects of ourselves most prefer ignoring. It takes tremendous courage to look into the mirror and admit that we are the problem.
However difficult, acknowledging these truths signifies our strengths to confront reality, and It is in this journey of self-exploration that we find our true essence, our humanity.
