About 15 years ago, I was on dating websites, and I remember thinking, what the fuck is going on? Overweight & fat people were calling themselves average. It made no sense to me; I didn’t get it! I spoke about it to one of my friends, who made me realize that the average person is fat… Until then, I had never realized it… but look around you, America is fat; it’s a fact!
So, whose fault is it?
I’ve made my health a priority for a long time; thus, I’ve always said that I would never date an overweight, obese, or not out-of-shape woman. Somehow people always call me superficial and vain, yet they don’t understand why I attach so much importance to it!
And this body positivity movement bullshit is only making things worse… As long as your love yourself, that’s all that matters. What a bunch of croak! How can someone love themselves if they treat their bodies like a dumpster? Have you ever noticed that most people take better care of their cars than they do themselves? Do you think that’s normal?
Taking care of your body is not vanity!
Show me someone who exercises daily, eats well and treats their body with the respect that it deserves, and I will show you someone who is disciplined, driven, focused, and ready to sacrifice short-term pleasure for long-term goals.
If you’re fat, overweight, or obese, it’s your fault. Plain and fucking simple. You have no one else to blame but yourself! The spoon didn’t make you fat. You DID!
Let me hit you with some knowledge – the facts.
The US population is estimated at 330 million. 31% of Americans are overweight (over 100 million people); 42% are obese (around 140 million people), leaving only 27% of Americans to be healthy dimensions (about 90 million people!)
There are more obese and overweight people than people who are in shape! In my age group, 40-59, 44% are obese! That’s almost half! What the fuck is going on?
And if you think it’s an American problem, guess again, The WHO reports that more than 1 billion people worldwide are obese! (2) As per advisoryboard.com, they predict that the obesity level will rise from 14% in 2020 to 24% by 2035! They estimate the world population to be 8.9 billion by 2035, so we are looking at around 2 billion obese individuals!
Among boys, obesity rates are expected to grow from 10% to 20% between 2020 and 2035, and obesity rates among girls are expected to grow from 8% to 18% during that same period. 1 out of 5 kids will be obese by 2035! The obesity level is predicted to double in the next 15 years! (3)
A child with an obese parent has a 50% chance of becoming obese. If both parents are obese, their kids have an 80% chance of becoming obese as well! 4 out of 5 kids with obese parents will become obese themselves!
Did you know that the Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC) recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and two days of muscle-strengthening training per week? Does 150 minutes a week sound like a lot to you? That’s less than 22 minutes per day!
So if you are saying you don’t have the time to exercise, think again motherfucker, you’re not making the time. There is a massive fucking difference between the two. Be honest with yourself. You just don’t care enough to do anything about it.
For the longest time, I thought the biggest problem in today’s society was the lack of strong men, but I believe the real issue to be a lot simpler than that, we lack personal responsibility. We have become a society of victims that would rather point their fingers at others instead of looking into the mirror!
Think about it, every single problem out there has a solution if you accept the fact that you have the power to do something about it. You just need to care!
