Being a good man means you are a protector!

Be the protector your family needs

“It’s better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.” Chinese Proverb

A good man is selfless; he must be ready to lay down his life to protect his family and loved ones. Dying is not enough; a good man will go out swinging, not on his knees like a coward. Are you ready to die for your family? Do you possess the knowledge required to protect them? Do you have the skills and the mindset to keep them safe?

I’m a big fan of movies and love using them as an example. Speaking about using a movie as an example… In the movie Felon: the main character, Wade Porter, is a man in his 30s. He has a wife and a son and runs a small business. He is just a regular guy. One night, he’s awoken by noises coming from the living room. As the protector of his family, he grabs a baseball bat and heads down to investigate. He finds a man going through his things. There is someone in his house with unknown intentions, and without hesitation, he chases the man out of his home.

As the unknown individual is fleeing, he reaches for something in his pocket. Not knowing what he is reaching for, Wade hits him in the head with his baseball bat, killing him on the spot. Long story short, he goes to prison for killing the intruder because, technically, since he was out of the house, he is no longer a threat.

Think about what you want about his decision. He did what he needed to do to protect his family. He’d still be alive if the criminal hadn’t been in his house. It makes no sense to punish the victim. He only wanted to keep his family safe. It’s easy to look at this from an outside perspective and judge him for his actions when we weren’t there. But in the heat of the moment, there is no time for moral debates! Our hero didn’t hesitate or worry about the consequences. He did what he needed to do when it needed to be done. This is what a protector does. This is what a good man does!

Time to be honest with yourself. Would you know what to do if you were in the same situation?

Imagine this, you’re a father, it’s the middle of the night, and your kids are sleeping peacefully in their rooms while your wife is in bed next to you. You are woken up by some strange noises coming from the living room. You quietly make your way downstairs to investigate, and you see a shadowy figure. Someone is in your house! What do you do?

Call the police?

Scream for help?

Go back to your bedroom and lock the door?

Hell no! Anything humanly possible to remove the treat is what you do, and this is the only acceptable answer! Don’t depend on other strong men with guns to help you, be the protector your family needs.

Violent Crimes – Facts and Numbers

Did you know the average police response time in the USA is 11 minutes? 11 minutes is a long time when someone is in your house! The house where your family lives.

Study: Average Police Response Time (creditdonkey.com)

As per the FBI, in 2019, there were an estimated 821,182 aggravated assaults in the USA. An aggravated assault is: (a) A person commits an offense if the person commits assault as defined in Sec. 22.01 and the person: (1) causes serious bodily injury to another, including the person’s spouse; or. (2) uses or exhibits a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault. Of the aggravated assault, 27.6% were committed with a firearm. In 25.2%, the attacker used their hands, fists, or feet. Knives and cutting instruments were used 17.5% of the time. Other weapons were used in 29.8% of aggravated assaults.

During that same period, more than 1 million people were victims of violent crimes. There were 14,014 murders and non-negligent manslaughter, and 122,822 rapes were reported. These numbers represent the victims that made the authority aware of the incidents. How many more actually happened? Will we never know?

Over 2 million reported violent crimes! This might not sound significant to you, considering the USA had a population of 328 million back in 2019. But 1 out of every 200 people was a victim of a violent crime that year.

You’ve encountered more than 200 people in your life, and as per these statistics, someone in your life was one of these victims. This could be your mother, sister, wife, girlfriend, daughter, or anyone else you care about.

You must be ready

We need to stop lying to ourselves about this world of ours. It is a violent place filled with individuals that don’t care about you or your family. They have no morals or virtues: they only care about themselves. They will do what they want to get what they desire. We can’t cure this world of evil. We can only accept that it is a reality and that it is within our power to learn how to deal with it. Be ready to face a life-and-death situation because, as a man, it’s your duty to be prepared.

You must be ready to do anything in your power to eliminate a threat. In the heat of the moment, you must become a monster. There is no time for hesitation or mental debate about right or wrong. You have to focus on the situation at hand and nothing else. Hesitating can get you and your family killed.

It’s time for action! Do whatever it takes to defend your family by any means necessary. Consequences don’t matter right now; you can deal with them once the threat has been neutralized. There are no limits to what I’m ready to do to defend my loved ones, and the same should be true about you. Your family depends on you!

Even if you do not yet have a family to protect, one day you will, so you must acquire the skill and mindset required to become the protector your family will need you to be. This is your duty as a good man!

We are bigger, stronger, more agile, and more aggressive. Doesn’t it make sense that we, men, be the protector our family needs?
